Section Updates

(by Ken Hager, Section Chief)

Gentlemen!

I hope everyone from our Section had a great Easter at home or away, with your families, extended families, friends, and who ever else makes your holidays more enjoyable.

It has been little over five weeks since our March COC, and I wanted to drop some reminders to you all.

Final quotas are in for Conclave. Potomac is getting everything put into motion. Make sure to start collecting your Conclave fees, as bills will soon start coming in. Cost is $30 per participant.

Many lodges asked for special requests from their fellow lodge chiefs, such as providing judges, sticking to deadlines, etc… Be sure to help out the other lodges in the Section for these items, because eventually the rotation will move back around to you! I know that Monaken asked for 1 youth and 1 adult judge for the Ceremony Comp. Kuski needs newsletters (3), and Nachy needs articles for the guidebook. If you have any other early requests post them on the web site, let me know, or e-mail the whole COC!

If you would like to post updates to the COC, be sure to mail them to our Section Web Adviser, Dan Wright, so they can be placed on-line on our web page www.ne4b.org or let me know and I’ll make sure they get to him. Why, just the other night I asked him to post a letter up about OAOA, and it was up in minutes, no joke! Be sure to check our section web site often for important updates.

Incorporating our theme "Let the Arrow Point the Way" into our Conclave and the cracker-barrel is going to be very important, but with many pay-offs for the participants. Monaken and Enda, I’m sure, have been working tediously to make some leeway into this subject. As soon as they have something to share, they will let us know. Some lodges committed to other responsibilities surrounding the theme, including Wagion whom should be making the ‘Arrow signs.’

Soon, the training cells and workshops will be blocked into the time slots allotted for them. Some recent complications pressed down by the National OA committee have added some training cells to our schedule. As soon as Jon, as well as the other section officers and advise/ors work this out, your lodge will be notified about when your trainers will be training. Additionally, be sure, if you haven’t yet, to get the names of those trainers to Jon!

Further preparations are being made for NOAC, as our national event draws closer everyday! As you asked, we are checking now of any places around the campus we can get ribs!

The next Informer due date is May 7th. Never too earlier to get those to OJ!

I had the great opportunity to represent our section on staff during the past National Leadership Seminar (NLS) on Mar 31-April 2 at Camp Alpine, NJ. I was really excited to see members from Enda, Nachy, and Kuski at this important training. The NLS went well, and I had the chance to run the Situational Leadership Game. I’m glad to see our section trying to fulfil our Section 10% Improvement Plan I laid out back in December.

As each of our lodges’ holds our Spring Thaws, work weekends, or other events in the upcoming months, don’t forget to spend some time getting prepared for Conclave. Before we know it, we’ll be back at Potomac with 300 Arrowmen ready for the time of their lives!

Good luck!
Yours in WWW,

Kenneth Hager
