Section Chief Selection Process

As per the OA FOG (Field Operations Guide), the section is required to select a replacement Section Chief within 30 days of our present Chief taking office as the Region Chief. The selected individual will carry out the role of Section Shief until the Sunday Business Meeting of the next Section Conclave.

Here are the rules:

  1. Any youth arrowman in the section may run for Chief, provided they meet all of the standard eligibility rules for the position. The person must be eligible to serve (under 21 and registered scout/scouter) until the next conclave in June, 2007. They must have the written approval of the Supreme Chief of the Fire or his designate.
  2. A special meeting must be held to select the new Section Chief.
  3. Each lodge represented by a youth member at the meeting will be entitled to cast one vote for Section Chief. There must be a youth present at the meeting for the lodge to receive a vote.
  4. Each candidate is encouraged, but not required to attend the special meeting.
  5. In the event that one of our other Section NE-4B officers (Vice-Chief, Secretary) should run and be elected Section Chief, then that position would need to be filled by another vote at the same meeting (Therefore, officer candidates are encouraged to make sure the approval letter from their Council Exec endorses them for all positions).

Lodge Chiefs and Advisers have already been contacted, and the election meeting is being planned. Once a time and place has been made official, it will be posted.
