Answering the Call to a Higher Adventure!
(by Rob Marks, Section Arrow Corps 5 Chairman)
The Order of the Arrow is calling you and your Lodge members for a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
You should have heard about Arrow Corps 5 by now, but in case you are new to the OA or you have been living under a rock for the last year, here are the details:
During the summer of 2008, the Order of the Arrow will deliver one of the largest conservation efforts in Scouting's history. Arrow Corps 5 will be unlike any program the Boy Scouts of America has ever offered. More than 5,000 Arrowmen will converge on five national forests over five different weeks to make a difference that will literally last a lifetime.
The closest site to our section is George Washington & Jefferson. We expect a majority of our Lodges will be working on building or refurbishing trails and clearing campsites of invasive plant species at this beautiful park during the week of June 21-28. At the end of the week, Arrowmen will have a chance to go white water rafting, mountain biking, horse back riding, fishing, or take a visit to nearby historic sites.
Two of our Lodges have plans to visit other project sites. Wagion Lodge is finalizing plans to be part of the Shasta-Trinity project in California and Enda Lechauhanne will send a contingent to the Bridger-Teton project in Wyoming.
Answer the call! Join us for a week of cheerful service and adventure! Together, we will set an example of leadership in service to those who treasure our national forests… and we’ll have fun while we are doing it.
More details will be announced soon. In the meantime, be sure that you and all the members of your lodge check out the AC5 website and sign-up for the National Events Information mail list http://event.oa-bsa.org.
