Brothers:

The next COC will be on April 10 at Seven Mountains (exact
time/location TBD). This is a change of what we had
originally planned on, so please note this new date.

To each Lodge: We will be taking pictures for the guidebook at the
COC, so you must have everyone present. Also, each Lodge (this falls
on the officers) needs to electronically send me a copy of your Lodge
history no later than Wednesday, April 7. We are beginning to
take requests from Lodges for any program or training materials that
they will need for the Conclave. Please send those requests to me. We
will be getting plaques made up for events. For your Lodge
registrations, we need participant names, whether they are a youth or
adult, the participant's OA honor, and any major health/food concerns
that we should be aware of. All Lodges need an approximate count of
participants at the COC. You will, of course, be able to add
participants leading up to Conclave, but your approximate count is
necessary to begin the final planning stages.

Thanks for your cooperation and support as we get ready to celebrate
100 years of Scouting at the 2010 Section NE-4B Conclave. Look for a
more formal update in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can
contact me at (717) 994-0647 or joncherry@gmail.com for any questions
that you have.

As you all know, Conclave is rapidly approaching. With less than six months to go, it's crunch time! Conclave Chairmen and Lodges should be towards the final parts of planning their contributions to Conclave. As we come into the "home stretch," be checking out your e-mails and the Section Website more often. The website has not received many updates as of yet, but I will be posting much more information as we draw closer to June 11-13.

1.What is the CoC mailing list?
The CoC mailing list is an e-mail list that is used by the Chiefs in the Section to send out e-mail to all the other Section leaders quickly by just sending to one address.

2.Who can join the CoC mailing list?
If you are a Brother of any Lodge in the Section, you may join the list.

3.Who can send mail on the CoC mailing list?
Any person may send mail to the list. However, only messages from Chiefs, Advisers, and Section Officers will appear on the list right away. All other messages must be approved before they will appear on the list.

4.What messages are appropriate for the CoC mailing list?
Any e-mail messages that contain information that is useful to the members of the CoC are appropriate. E-mail containing profanity or links to offensive web sites are not appropriate. E-mail containing unapproved solicitations are not appropriate.

5.How do I send mail to the mailing list.
Once you are subscribed, you may send mail to the list by e-mailing "CoC@ne4b.org"

6.How much mail will I receive if I subscribe?
Many months out of the year, the CoC mailing list is not used at all. However, prior to events such as Section Gatherings, CoC's, National events, Conclave, etc... the list gets more usage.

You will receive an e-mail with instructions. Once you are subscribed to the mailing list and are also a member of the CoC, you should also e-mail the Section Secretary, Ted Kostich, at tkostich@gmail.com, after you subscribe so that he can give you access to post directly to the list.

NOAC 2009 Training is filled with plenty of new opportunities to train the Arrowmen of today and those who will be chosen to lead into tomorrow. This year our theme is

The Power of One, and the Training Committee is working to incorporate this theme into all the sessions. Here’s a taste of what we have cooking for the first-of-its-kind signature theme session for this summer’s main event:

“History proves all things of value start with one person who acts to better the world around him. You have that power, The Power of One, and this signature training session for NOAC 2009. Discover your power and your responsibility to use that power. This session will challenge you to IMAGINE how you can make a difference, BELIEVE that you have the power to effect change and learn to LEAD through SERVICE to change your life and the world around you. What is your greatest fear? Who, what, how do I impact? What makes a difference? What difference does it make? How do I succeed? What is success? What is the Power? Am I the One? Find the answers to these questions and others. Join us and discover your 'Power of One.'”

Our stride is fueled by new formats and new styles. We are moving to new session lengths and times. Participants have over 100 classes to choose from as they fill their two (2) 75-minute sessions each morning (Sunday through Tuesday) from 7 of our 8 different schools! The schools include:
•	Leadership – A school on Leading those you Serve
•	Nuts & Bolts – A school geared towards the basics of Lodge Operation
•	Planning – A school that features courses to help you plan for everything that could come your way as leaders in the Order of the Arrow
•	Service – A school aimed towards our basic purpose…cheerful service
•	OA Traditions – A school providing rich OA history to the young and old
•	Tools – A school providing you the items you need to fill your leadership tool box
•	Vision – A school aimed to provide you with the higher purpose of the Order

Our 8th School will take place in the afternoons on Sunday and Monday. The School of Innovations will be introducing afternoon symposiums and workshops to give you hands-on experience in the new technologies and leadership methods that are continuing to shape your lodge as we speak. Features will include a Leadership Symposium, Media Blitz, The ONE Film Festival and a National Events Promotion Workshop.

In our pursuit to deliver cutting edge programs, the Training Committee is rolling out a new concept designed with ArrowCorps5 in mind. The Arrowmen Conservation School (ACS) is a new training opportunity to provide the technical and management skills needed to run a successful outdoor service project. The ACS is limited to 150 lucky participants. The school will provide youth outdoor leadership training, wilderness engineering (trail building, the 5-steps of conservation, etc.) and a very adept advising track for the adults. We are proud to support this great new opportunity that will give YOU the POWER to make difference in the nature that surrounds you back home!

Again, the Training Committee is STOKED about the great opportunities we have for you, provided by nothing short of the BEST trainers in the country. Come on down to this NOAC and discover how you can use your POWER to be the ONE to make a difference!

Hey Everyone!!

Hope everyone is doing well as we jump into the winter months!! I know the Section Staff has been pretty busy, getting ready for the Section Officers'
Seminar coming up as well as the November CoC. On that note, we have a few points of business to attend to:

               1. Everyone needs to let Allen, or Adam Kostik know ASAP how many you have from your lodge attending the Nov. CoC. It's at Twin Echo in Ligonier. We'll be there Friday Night (for patch trading, fun and
fellowship!!) and the meeting itself will start at 8AM on Saturday.
Remember: Lodge Chief's, Advisers, and Conclave Chairmen should be attending. This CoC is going to be program based, so come with training and program ideas!! We should be done no later than 2pm. When you RSVP, let us know if you're coming Friday night or Saturday morning. Cost for food is $5.

               2. Adam is putting together our first Informer for the year (for those who don't know, that's the Section Newsletter). He sent out an email earlier this week about needing articles. Lodge Chiefs: this means you!! Also, Section Chairmen should send him something too. (Good work Ted getting yours in already!!). This is the Informer that we're taking to the SOS, so let's make it a good one!!

               3. The Section Fleeces have been ordered (make sure you thank Cletus and the Penn's Woods Council for helping us with this!!) Make sure, if you ordered one, that you have your $35 at the CoC, so we can give it to you :)

If anyone needs anything, please let us know!! We live to serve :) Have a safe and happy Halloween weekend!!

Yours in Brotherhood,

Allen, Craig, and Adam
